1. ENCYCLOPAEDIA

Type in the search window the word/term (or initial part of word) in English. The search covers a database of approximately 3200 terms. The results are listed alphabetically either alone (in case of perfect match) or in any combination of words or phonetically close terms/words.

When TITLE search is selected the e-Encyclopaedia searches through the titles (names) of the articles. The SEARCH will produce a list with all terms/words, where the searched word is included. In most cases this quick search is sufficient.

When FULL TEXT search is selected the e-Encyclopaedia searches through the full text of all articles and displays any term where this word is used. This action uses an advanced search engine and obviously needs more time to complete the search.

The result of the search is a table of all relevant terms. To the right of each term is an arrow indicating the topical area of the term. Selecting the topical area calls the explanatory article for this term. If one term is used in several areas (e.g. Absorption as in the areas of Diagnostic Radiology or Ultrasound), then the user has to select the appropriate hyperlinked button.

N.B. If the exact spelling of the term is not known, one can search only according to the initial letters of the term (e.g. in case of a search for Cathode, typing Cat in the Search window will present all terms beginning with these letters, including Cathode).

2. DICTIONARY

To translate select your Input Language and the Output Language. Then just type in the translate window a term/word (or initial part of word) using the Input language. The results are listed as a table, arranged as per the input language. The term in demand is listed either alone (in case of perfect match) or in any combination of words or phonetically close words. The e-Dictionary assumes that the Internet browser already supports the Input Language and Output Languages.

3. COMBINED (Dictionary plus Encyclopaedia)

This search uses the set up for the Dictionary (i.e. Input Language and Output Languages have to be selected). After typing the term/word (or initial part of word), the search displays a table, arranged as per the Input language. Against each term is its translation into the Output language and also the button which calls the explanatory article for this term in English. As in the Encyclopaedia, the article of one term can be explained according to the area of use of the term. Please note that the Combined use of EMITEL allows only search through the names of the terms. This Search assumes that the Internet browser already supports the Input Language and Output Languages.
